Students and members of the community celebrated the opening of the new El Reno Animal Shelter Play Yard last week.

Over the past month, the shelter’s play yard was transformed from a chronic mud pit with exposed rocks and drainpipe into an oasis of turf specially made for dogs.

City council member Amy Neathery made brief remarks with the new turf yard adorned with agility equipment, toys and a small pool in the background.

“While I never liked group projects as a student, I know we can do more together,” Neathery told the audience.
