Paul Newell Hauser

After years of keeping Parkinson’s at bay, Paul Newell Hauser passed on May 30, 2020, in Overland Park, Kan., at the age of 85.

Paul was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Kingfisher to father, Albert W. Hauser and mother, Thelma Oakes, who predeceased him. His wife, Paula, passed last year after a brief battle with cancer.

Paul grew up with two sisters. He attended Cameron Junior College (now University) before moving on to Tulsa University.

He played and excelled in sports from high school through college, including football (“Howitzer Hauser”), baseball and basketball.

Loyd Eichholz

Loyd Eichholz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. He was the youngest son of Robert and Johanna (Engbrecht) Eichholz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, and sisters, Martha Eichholz, Elda Kisner and Bertha Harriage.

He is survived by his brother, Elden Eichholz; his son, Craig Eichholz and wife, Deborah; daughters, Cynthia Mollison and husband, Richard, and Dana Childress and husband, Don; grandchildren, Nick Mollison, Jack Childress, Misty McGregor and Conner and Evan Simco.

Loyd grew up on a farm in the Okarche area.

Funeral services for Opal (Jean) James will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at First Christian Church in Calumet with Rev. Tim Clausing officiating. Burial will follow in the Canadian Valley Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home. 

Jean was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Canadian County, on the farm northwest of El Reno, to James Melvin and Hazel M. (Sisk) Harman. She passed away Saturday, June 21, 2020, at her home in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 86.

A time of remembrance and celebration for longtime El Reno resident Joy Ervin was held Monday, June 15, 2020, at First Baptist Church. The service can be viewed at https://youtu.be/NrNW2atcDtA.

In the years preceding 1935, a farming couple in Cordell named Bly and Cora Ashby were still trying to recover from grieving the loss of their son, Jerald Russell, who died seven years earlier.
