Two Mustang police officers who were involved in a deadly shooting earlier this month have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Canadian County Assistant District Attorney Eric Epplin said the two officers, whose names have not been made public, were cleared following a review of a report from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The shooting, which occurred June 5, resulted in the death of Benjamin Ballard of Yukon.

Epplin said after reviewing the report, the shooting was determined to have been justified.

Partnership could aid beef production

OKLAHOMA CITY – A couple of state lawmakers are touting the potential of a new partnership that could help Oklahoma grow its beef processing capacity.

State Reps. Ty Burns, R-Pawnee, and Kyle Hilbert, R-Bristow, said the partnership between the Oklahoma Departments of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and Career Tech schools could help clear a processing backlog for Oklahoma cattle producers.

State ranchers in recent months have faced a backlog in getting their cattle processed, being told they could have up to a year-and-a-half wait.

District seeks parent input for new school year

Body

Craig McVay knows education in Oklahoma, during the COVID-19 pandemic, is not a one-size-fits-all deal.

So that’s why the El Reno superintendent wants to know what parents in the district feel about the 2020-21 school year and how the administration should handle classwork for its nearly 3,000 students.

“Most school districts are planning to see what parents feel comfortable doing. Our team wants to know what is the best scenario for our parents. We have a lot of families with two working parents and if we went straight digital, it would not work,” said McVay.
