Jerry Bromlow, 71, passed away at his home on Monday, Aug.17, 2020, with his wife, children and granddaughter by his side. Jerry was born Feb. 13, 1949, in Minco, where he lived until the age of 8 and moved to Union City. He graduated from Union City High School in 1968. In 1970, he married Sharon Nusbaum of El Reno, who has been by his side over 50 years. In 1981, they moved to El Reno where they live at the present time.

Graveside services for Lola Belle Thompson were held Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, in the Niles Cemetery in Hinton with Rev. Bud Hardin officiating. Services were entrusted to Turner Funeral Home of Hinton.

COVID-19 shuts down Lincoln Learning Center

On the eve of El Reno Public Schools returning to in-person learning, the district has been forced to close down Lincoln Learning Center due to a teacher testing positive for COVID-19.

The district has quarantined the teacher, who tested positive through a rapid test, as well as nine other employees who were directly exposed. Among those self-quarantined include two school administrators.

Spikers snag gold, football pads up and softball wins

El Reno High School’s volleyball team extended its win streak to seven matches last week, six of those coming in the EHS Invitational, en route to the Gold Bracket Championship – the first time the Indians have won the title of their home tourney.

Kristen Koehler’s team did not lose a set in winning the title, defeating Hennessey, Guymon and Chickasha in Pool A play by duplicate 2-0 counts to take the top seed. In the semifinals of bracket play, El Reno defeated Duncan for the second time in three days by scores of 25-18/25-12.
