Canadian County Election Board Secretary Wanda Armold said Jacqueline Stevenson-Smith, 42, filed for the seat on Monday, while Steve Jensen, 53, filed on Tuesday. The filing period closes at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The position will be filled in the Nov. 3 General Election, with the top vote-getter winning the term that runs until Nov. 12, 2024.

Fly-in frenzy

Body

On a sun-drenched Saturday a crowd estimated at some 2,000 converged on the El Reno Regional Airport for the first-ever Fly-In and Community Day.

What they saw was history take to the skies as some 80 airplanes, many with military backgrounds, rested along the open areas of the airport, while vintage planes zipped into the air, taking passengers for rides and providing an aerial show not seen here in years.

Countdown nears zero for football

Body

The clock is ticking slowly down to the start of the 2020 El Reno High School football season and it will hit zero Friday night.

That’s right, it’s zero week and the Indians are opening the season a week earlier than most schools across the state, hosting Cache at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
