Marie Hirst said members of Historic Fort Reno Inc. are being locked out of the Fort Reno Visitors Center and Museum, making it impossible to raise funds to help support the efforts of the organization.

Hirst is president of the organization, she’s also Canadian County Court Clerk. Last week she turned to social media to call for those interested in the history of Fort Reno to gather to discuss concerns, especially related to the USDA tearing down structures at the historic fort.

Race set for Ward 1 seat

Body

Jacqueline Stevenson-Smith and Steve Jensen will face off Nov. 3 for the Ward 1 El Reno City Council seat.

Election Board Secretary Wanda Armold said those two were the only ones to file for the seat during the filing period that ran from Monday through Wednesday.

Stevenson-Smith, 42, was appointed in July to fill out the term of J.T. Chronister. Chronister missed too many meetings and was automatically removed from the council.

County mask rule discussed

County commissioners left in place the mask policy that has been in place at Canadian County offices since earlier this year. The decision not to make a change came during Monday’s meeting, but followed a lengthy discussion on the policies.
