After dropping a heartbreaking top 10 battle with Carl Albert, El Reno High School’s volleyball team has rebounded with a three-match win streak to lift the Indians up a spot in the latest Class 5A poll.

El Reno is now tied with the Titans for third in the state, both trailing Victory Christian and Mount St. Mary.

The Indians posted a 3-1 victory over Duncan by scores of 25-12/25-18/21-25/25-18. Kristen Koehler’s team then added a 3-0 win over Chickasha behind scores of 25-12/25-18/25-20.

UC Tigers win streak upped; Calumet faces ranked teams

Union City High School’s baseball team extended its current win streak to nine games last week with a 14-1 road win over Ninnekah.

The unranked Tigers improved to 12-2 on the fall season after logging 10 hits and six walks off the Owls pitching staff.

The win followed a two-game run in the Dover Festival, beating Mulhall-Orlando (5-1) and Frontier (10-3). The Tigers posted an 8-4 victory over Verden before the festival.

Big sticks fuel sweep by Calumet; Union City snaps slide

Calumet High School’s softball team continues to carry the hot bats after logging 32 hits in wins over Thomas/Fay-Custer and Waynoka.

The Chieftains improved to 10-5 on the season with a 10-0 shutout of the Terriers and a 13-5 decision over Waynoka. Both wins featured double-digit hits.
