The school issued a statement Friday saying it made the decision after consulting with health officials.

“Working in conjunction with the Canadian County Health Department, the Redlands Community College administration has decided to transition live classes to a virtual format for the next two weeks beginning Monday, Sept. 14,” the statement said.

Saying they’ve had enough, the El Reno City Council approved increasing fines for littering from $255 to $350, with one councilman saying the financial pain for violating the ordinance may need to be more harsh.

The unanimous 4-0 vote came at Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the council. Councilman Tim Robinson was not in attendance.

Mayor Matt White said the increase is needed along with stepped-up enforcement, especially at Lake El Reno.

Lankford speaks on upcoming election, COVID-19 vaccine

U.S. Sen. James Lankford spoke last week in Canadian County on topics including the CARES Act, mail-in voting and a possible coronavirus vaccine.

There has not been a COVID-19 bill since April because there already has been $3 trillion put into the economy for pandemic relief, Lankford said.

Of the $3 trillion, $1 trillion has not yet been used.

“Typically, all appropriated spending for all of the government for a year is $1 trillion,” said Lankford.

“That doesn’t include things like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. That’s a separate amount.”
