Oklahoma lawmakers study ways to grow electric vehicle industry

OKLAHOMA CITY –  The House Transportation Committee heard from industry experts on the future of electric vehicles and how Oklahoma can capitalize on the growing industry during an interim study last week.

Rep. Brian Hill, R-Mustang, requested the study after he attended multiple economic and legislative conferences where he repeatedly heard that up to 90 percent of transportation will be electric by 2050. Many fleet transportation industries across the nation are already beginning to convert portions of their fleet to electric vehicles.

The Electoral College matters to minorities

Body

Rather than have a nationwide popular vote, the United States chooses its president through the Electoral College with the outcome tied to multiple state-level elections.

This system ensures voters in smaller states like Oklahoma are still prized by presidential candidates. But it has also ensured minority groups of all types can wield greater influence even as consensus-building is incentivized.

The Electoral College’s benefit has accrued not only to those interested in specific issues — such as pro-life voters or environmentalists — but to racial minorities as well.

Yes, Catherine, those marvelous millipedes are poisonous after all

Body

Update: Last year I wrote about the marvelous millipede, but due to an unfortunate experience, I must update my article.

The fact is they are quite poisonous. As I was scouting the woods with my grandson, we spotted one and I wanted to show him how they curl up when touched.

This one did not curl so I picked it up to show Pierce its many legs. My hand immediately burned and I smelled an unusual odor so I dropped it.
