Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18 for the City of El Reno General Election, City of Mustang General Election and the Special Election for Minco Public Schools.

Canadian County Election Board Secretary Allen Arnold offers these tips to voters, especially those who will be casting a ballot for the first time.

▶ Mark your ballot using the example posted at your polling place and inside your ballot booth. If you make a mistake, do not try to correct it.

Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, Nov. 2, and the American Red Cross encourages everyone to test their smoke alarms as they turn their clocks back to make sure the devices are working.

“Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half as you only have about two minutes to safely get out,” said Loida Haffener Salmond, Executive Director of the Red Cross of Central and Southwest Oklahoma.

Jerry Jones was born June 11, 1962, in Coffeyville, Kansas. He passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, 2025, at the age of 63. 

Jerry spent most of his life in Kingfisher, where he graduated from Kingfisher High School. After high school Jerry went on to work as a truck driver, which spanned for many years of his life.

Jerry could often be found cooking on his smoker, fishing in the tranquility of nature or engaging in his unique hobby of snake hunting, or spending time with family and friends.

OKLAHOMA CITY — With federal food assistance in peril, Oklahoma food banks, nonprofits and religious groups are bracing for impact.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps, could be cut off Saturday for over 680,000 Oklahomans if the federal government shutdown doesn’t end.
