Sheriff’s office warning of new phone scam

Body

The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office is aware of multiple scam attempts on county citizens in which the scammers pretend to be Sheriff Chris West or other deputies.

“The scammers tactics are to impersonate law enforcement to gain money from victims by scaring them with threats of arrest warrants or missed court dates,” said Maj. Adam Flowers.

“These scammers will ask for money through cash payments using Internet apps or purchasing gift cards.”

Nexus seeks help in mini horse rescue

Body

El Reno’s Nexus Equine has provided shelter and food for miniature horses in need of care and support.

Rita Hoch, founder and CEO of the horse and animal rescue, said, “This is not a cruelty case, rather, it’s a story of compassion. The previous owner deeply loved her animals but reached a point where she needed help. Nexus Equine responded without hesitation, ensuring these minis received the care they deserve.”

While Hoch said NEXUS is grateful to help, the number of miniature horses is a formidable task.
