In August, my wife, Anna and I celebrated our anniversary with a return trip to Charleston, South Carolina, a beautiful city steeped in history, which is considered the birthplace of the modern historic preservation effort in America.
The El Reno Main Street board of directors has voted unanimously to begin a comprehensive rebranding and restructuring process in 2026. This next chapter will focus on listening, learning and rebuilding, ensuring that the organization reflects the needs, values and goals of the El Reno community.
Irene Ann Wiedemann passed away Oct. 27, 2025, in El Reno at the age of 91. She was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Okarche to John and Lillian Schieber. Irene was the second youngest of five girls.
She graduated from Okarche High School and began her pursuit of a career in nursing when she met Arthur Wiedemann upon his return from the service and married her forever love at the age of 20. They were married for 68 years, until the time of his death. They spent the majority of the next 33 years on “The Ranch” in Piedmont.
