Cheer headed back to state

Body

From the sidelines they supported El Reno High School through the heat, rain and cold of the 2025 football season, but now it’s their turn to switch spots and take the field.

El Reno’s cheerleading squad will compete in the 2025 Oklahoma Secondary School Activity Association's Class 5A Game Day State Championships Saturday at Tulsa Union after placing 15th in the regional round.

It’s the second time in three years for El Reno to make state.

“That’s not bad at all and I’m very proud of the girls,” said EHS cheerleading coach Jacqueline Smith.

Redlands nipped late by Neosho

Body

One second and two free throws kept Redlands Community College men’s basketball team out of the win column for a second straight outing.

Neosho County College, based out of Kansas, drew a foul with a second left on the clock and made both free throws to cap off a rally over the Cougars 80-78.

Redlands slipped to 2-3 on the season with the loss and 1-2 at home after squandering a 41-30 halftime lead. The Cougars trailed early but used a pair of 10-0 runs over the last 10 minutes of the first half to build that 11-point margin.
