Leota Yvonne Stark, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Nov. 13, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born May 31, 1940, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to her parents, Homer and Elbie Burcham.

Leota was a lifelong homemaker. She found enjoyment and entertainment in supporting the OU Sooners and watching Dale Earnhardt race.

Cheer takes on state

TULSA – While the outcome fell short of expectations, El Reno High School’s cheerleading squad improved in its second trip to the Class 5A Game Day State Championships.

“I’m excited that we got there. I think 5A is really hard to compete in. It’s really hard competition, but we did improve,” said El Reno head coach Jacqueline Smith.

El Reno placed 14th out of 15 teams to make the state field, competing at Tulsa Union.

Calumet, OHS secure big wins, UC falls to ’Cats

Calumet High School’s boys basketball team is showing its offensive firepower early in the season after defeating Lookeba-Sickles 106-25.

The defending Class B state champion has outscored its first two opponents this season 202-82 to move to 2-0.

Calumet extended its current win streak to 11 games dating back to last year.

Hunter Mayfield was one of four players in double digits for Calumet with 21 points, followed by Brynston Fletcher and David Walling with 16 points each and Kaleb Thiessen with 13 points.
