Rabid raccoon confirmed on SW 26th Street

The El Reno Animal Control has confirmed that a raccoon captured this week in the 800 block of SW 26th Street has tested positive for rabies. This confirmed case follows recent reports of rabid skunks in nearby Yukon and Edmond, further heightening regional awareness of rabies risks.

Dona Mitchell

Dona K. (Clark) Mitchell, 86, a longtime resident of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, in Lewisville, Texas.

Dona was born in El Reno on April 30, 1939, to Charles F. and Vera P. (Hackett) Clark. Dona graduated from El Reno High School in 1956. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Jerry Mitchell, whom she married in December 1957. They welcomed a son, Clark, in December 1958 and a daughter, Jerri Kay, in February 1964.
