RCC women sweep four-game road slate

A pair of back-to-back wins by a combined 15 points lifted Redlands Community College women’s basketball team to 4-0 on a recent road trip.

Three of those games were in Kansas, producing victories over Colby (76-31), Barton (52-42) and Cowley (50-45) Community Colleges.

The road sweep lifted Redlands to 6-1 on the season and extended its current win streak to six.

Alaura Pruitt paced the team in scoring in the Kansas set with 33 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and a blocked shot. Haven Joseph followed with 23 points, 20 boards.

Cougars split games after Texas stumble

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team split games last week including an 84-71 road loss to Dallas College of Richmond.

The loss dropped the Cougars to 3-4 on the season after RCC defeated Fort Scott Community College 95-85 at home. Redlands has lost three of its last four games.

Jayden Forrest led the Cougars in scoring for the set with 35 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. Glenn Bishop followed with 27 points, 11 boards and five steals.

Hillcrest pre-kindergarten September Integrity Award winners are Crew Ferguson, AnnieJune Western, Bennett Moores, Aiden Velasquez, Alani Guzman, TJ Miller, Garren Porter and Yaneiri Espinoza.

The honorees also include Grayson Mann, Mackenzie Rhoades, Yaneisy Arellano, Haisley Haggerty, Ximena De Paz and Allen Mendoza.
