Late basket extends RCC win streak to eight games

Myracle Washington hit a 2-point jumper with one second left as Redlands Community College women’s basketball team extended its current win streak to eight games.

The Cougars moved to 8-1 on the season with a 58-56 win over National Park. The victory came on the heels of an 89-45 thrashing of Mid America Christian University’s junior varsity.

Washington’s basket gave her 16 points for the two games to go along with seven assists and three rebounds. Katelyn Harviston was one of three players with 18 points each along with Haven Joseph and Heaven Haywood.

Cougars dominate Loyalty Prep, even season record

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team earned its second victory in the last five games, defeating Loyalty College Prep 86-44.

The 42-point non-league blowout moved the Cougars to 4-4 on the season.

Redlands shot 43 percent from the field (35-of-81) and made 11 3-point baskets off 31 percent shooting. Jayden Forrest knocked down four of those treys, followed by Camren Hunt with three.

Jarren Cargil added two treys and RCC got one each from Cristian McElveen and Madden Padilla.

Tribes support partnering with the Marshals Service to help resolve MMIP cases

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Marshals Service will be permitted to partner with tribal law enforcement in cases involving missing indigenous children under legislation proposed by two senators who represent states with numerous tribes.

The efforts of Senators Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nevada) were applauded by LaRenda Morgan, who helped lead the effort that led to passage in Oklahoma of “Ida’s Law,” named for her cousin, Ida Beard, who went missing from El Reno in 2015.
