El Reno sweeps Tigers in panhandle tussles

After losing five straight games to start the 2025 portion of its schedule, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team has flipped the script heading into the new year.

El Reno made the journey to the Oklahoma panhandle last week to defeat Guymon 72-40 in league play for its third straight victory.

The Indians are now 3-5 on the year.

More importantly, the 32-point win moves El Reno to 2-3 in the District 5A-2 standings. The Indians are now tied for fourth in the win column with Lawton (2-1).

El Reno girls gut out 11-point win at free throw line, 47-36

Two days removed from a season-high point total, El Reno High School’s girls basketball team made the 4.5 hour (one-way) bus ride to Guymon and came away with a 47-36 victory over the Tigers.

The 11-point decision extended El Reno’s current win streak to two games as the Indians move to 5-3 on the season going into the holiday break.

More importantly, it was EHS’ third straight league win, moving the team to 4-1 in the District 5A-2 standings for third place.

El Reno made 15 baskets in the game, four of those 3-pointers, while hitting 13-of-18 (72 percent) free throws.
