Beginning June 1, the city of El Reno will resume sending notices of code violations to people who have allowed their property to fall into disrepair.

During the shelter in place guidelines forced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the city sent only “courtesy notices” rather than notices of violations to property owners.

This practice took place March, April and May. The city also provided a weeklong free dump site for the spring cleanup event.

Now that the shelter in place guidelines have been lifted, violations will resume, the city said in a prepared statement.

“El Reno will resume regular code enforcement activities for addressing property maintenance violations,” the statement said.

“These activities will include violation letters and abatement. As always, we will work with you as best we can to ensure property maintenance and safety for our neighborhoods.”
