Head coach Tyrone Lewis is getting his El Reno High School wrestlers “battle-tested” well before the push for a spot at dual state and beyond, closing out the 2019 portion of the Indians schedule at one of the nation’s toughest events.
El Reno, ranked No.7 in the Class 5A tournament team rankings, was one of 11 Oklahoma teams to travel to Missouri for the 2019 Kansas City Stampede, as the Indians placed 41st overall with 126.5 team points.
El Reno and the Kennedy family did it again. Since 1981, Dwight and Diana Kennedy have been working with their family and members of the El Reno community to provide a Christmas Eve dinner. This year was no exception.

Dr. Michael Furgeson, M.D., Ph.D., 68, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019. He was born Oct. 10, 1951, in Sherman, Texas.
Michael married the love of his life, Tammi Furgeson, on St. Patrick’s Day 1990, sharing nearly 30 years of marriage.
Michael graduated from Baylor University in 1976 with a master’s degree in anatomy, and in June 1984 he received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Joye Earlene Reimers was born in Hinton on Aug. 14, 1927, to Samuel Earl and Darlena Ruth (Willingham) French. She peacefully departed this life on Dec. 22, 2019.
Earlene attended El Reno High School where she played the coronet in the band and graduated in 1944. In 1948 she met Daniel Webster Reimers. They were married on April 10, 1949. Together they had four children.
Funeral services for Connie J. Shrum will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 at Calumet Public Schools with Dr. Keith Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery west of Watonga. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Connie went to be with the Lord on Dec. 23, 2019, at the age of 74. Her final days were at Integris Hospital in Yukon, after a year-long, courageous battle with cancer.
