El Reno middle blocker Tori Finnigan misses on a solo block attempt during a recent match at Jenks Simmons Field House.

After stumbling through the middle part of its September schedule, El Reno High School’s volleyball team looks to have regained its groove following a 3-0 sweep of Harding Charter Prep.

The 25-18/25-18/25-24 victory capped off a five-date road trip for the Class 5A 10th-ranked Indians, who went 3-4 over the seven games away from Jenks Simmons Field House.

El Reno has four dates left in the regular season, hosting Hennessey and Duncan on Monday and Tuesday before closing out the regular season with trips to state-ranked Noble (14th in 5A) and Shawnee (12th in 6A).

Against Harding, El Reno served at just under 90 percent, going 63-of-72 for 88 percent. The team had six serving errors in game one, but trimmed it to only three combined over the final two games.

Hannah Cerne served up six aces, while Lauren Cerne had three. The Connor sisters, Samantha and Riley, had an ace each.

El Reno’s offense at the net had a hitting percentage of .829 after 63-of-76 attempts were good. Lauren Cerne led the team in kills with nine, followed by Tori Finnigan with five and four from Samantha Connor.

Hannah Cerne logged three kills as did Riley Connor, while Bri Felton had two kills and MaryAnne Whetstone added one kill.

Whetstone recorded the lone block for the Indians defense.
