El Reno High School’s basketball program was well represented last week in the 2019 Big All-City Basketball Games held at Southmoore High School.

In the girls game - won by the East squad 99-96 in overtime - El Reno had three players on the West team. Merzedes Macias and Charlee Bushyhead scored two points each, while Kiera Davis added a free throw.

It was the final game for all three El Reno seniors, who keyed the Indians to a state runner-up trophy, to play together. Davis will play next season at Eastern Oklahoma State College, while Bushyhead signed to play at Bacone.

Davis did make the alternate list for the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association’s Large School All-State Game but had not been called up. She was also named to the Class 5A All-Star Team by the Oklahoma Coaches Association along with Macias but neither were named to the starting All-State roster.

The El Reno boys had three players as well in the Big All-City contest. Dyson Plumley scored six points in the West’s 135-109 loss to the East. Derek Havern and Eli Hollis both scored four points in the loss.

Hollis was slated to return to the court over the weekend in the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Star Game in Ada. Plumley was also named to the team but was elevated to the roster for the Faith Seven Bowl to be played June 7 in Shawnee.
