Despite solid teamwork throughout the match, El Reno High School’s volleyball team struggled to put the ball down on the floor in a 3-1 loss to the Duncan Demons.

The match was the first at Jenks Simmons Field House since Aug. 17 and the 9-25/11-25/25-20/12-25 setback left El Reno with a 4-8 overall record. The Indians have dropped three outings in a row.

El Reno served at 85 percent for the match, going 50-of-59, but managed just five ace serves.

Emma Patswald led the way with two aces, while Kadin Patterson, Bailey Denwalt and Avery Blount added one ace each.

The net offense closed the match at 72-of-97 for a .742 effort and 18 kills. Patterson’s seven kills over the four games led the Indians, followed by Jennis Goucher and Denwalt with four kills each. Brilee Garrett, Avery Peffer and Patswald had a kill each.

Denwalt led all setters with 11 assists, while Blount had nine assists.

El Reno’s defense had a quiet night, with Garrett logging two digs and Peffer a pair of blocks.

The Indians are slated to be back in action Thursday at home against Santa Fe South.

El Reno will then hit the road for tournament play on Friday at U.S. Grant and Saturday at Noble.
