Editor’s Note: This letter was forwarded to the Tribune by Dr. Kristy Ehlers of El Reno Public Schools. It was sent to EHS Principal Pat Liticker after students raised money to help send 10-year-old Kaden Phillips of Mustang on a Make A Wish trip to Disneyland. The money, more than $7,000, was raised during EHS’ SMASH Week activities. SMASH stands for Students Making A Strive for Hope and has been held annually since 2013. Liticker sent along this note, forwarding the message to fellow faculty and staff of ERPS: Forwarding this on to all of you. This was not just an EHS thing but a district/community endeavor. Thank you to all who helped participate in accomplishing this goal!

Dear Patrick Liticker,

Thank you for allowing Make-A-Wish Oklahoma to be part of SMASH Week 2019! We are honored to have been a part of your students’ philanthropic support.

The spirit of El Reno High School is unlike any other and I feel extremely grateful to have worked with such outstanding students, faculty and administration.

Thanks to you, Kaden and his family had a wonderful time during Kaden’s wish to go to Disneyland!

The impact El Reno High School has made on Kaden’s life is grand and immeasurable - a memory he will never forget.

Thank you for being dedicated to changing lives through the power of a wish!

With much appreciation,

Courtney Lanenoler
