Funeral services for Charles “Chuck” Edward Norris of Goldsby, formerly of El Reno, were held Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at El Reno Trinity Baptist Church. Burial with military honors was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Norris passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at the Norman Veterans Center. He was born March 9, 1942, in El Reno and was a graduate of El Reno High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the U.S. Army. He had lived most of his life in Goldsby.
Chuck was a retired Recon Platoon Sergeant from the U.S. Army where he had received two Purple Hearts and two Silver Stars. He served during the Vietnam and the Korean wars with the 25th and 35th Infantry Division.
Chuck was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Canadian River Cruisers Car Club. He was the proud owner of many classic cars including his current ‘67 Camaro RS. He loved woodworking, eagles and onion burgers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Lee and Kathryn Lucy (Perry) Norris; his wife, Helen Elaine (Swagerty) Norris; brother, Robert Lee Norris; and sister, Margarette Barnes.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie DeMoss of Yukon and son-in-law, Daniel Thomas “Tom” DeMoss; sister, Marilyn Vincent of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two grandsons, Logan DeMoss and Justin Cole; great-granddaughter, Laci Cole; his sidekick, his pet bird, Harley; nephew, Matthew Barnes; best friend, Leo Shaw; and numerous other relatives and many dear friends.
