Janet Louise Gregory

October 15, 1933 – November 29, 2018

Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.

Janet Gregory was the essence of these qualities and made sure everyone around her knew it. .Janet passed away Nov. 29, 2018, in El Reno. She was a devoted member of her church, family, friends and community. She was an active volunteer for Mobile Meals and The Lord’s Harvest and made many monetary donations to several charities.

Janet Louise Gregory was born Oct. 15, 1933, in El Reno to Lawrence and Helena Chappell. She grew up with her best friends and sisters, Marcia Hurst and Opal Curtis. Janet married Leon Wayne Gregory in 1951, and they had three beautiful children, Steven, Gary and Gwen.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, Opal; her daughter, Gwen; and her husband, Leon.

She is survived by her children, Steven and wife, Karen Gregory of Edmond and Gary and wife, Paula Gregory of Fort Worth, Texas; her nine grandchildren, Erin and Rusty Kotzur of Austin, Texas, Jerry and Amber Scott of Mustang, Stephanie Gregory of Colorado Springs, Colo., James and Paula Gregory of Fort Worth, Texas, Amy Scott of El Reno, Drew Gregory of Kansas City, Mo., Cris Gregory of Edmond, Ashley and husband, Zac Al-Shawish of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Kelsey Mance of Houston, Texas, as well as her eight great-grandchildren.

Her loss is deeply felt. But as hummingbirds open our eyes to the wonder of the world and inspire us to open our hearts to loved ones and friends, Janet Gregory, our mom, grandma, nana and friend will forever be a reminder to savor each moment as it passes, and embrace with grace, all that life has to offer.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jan Burns-Hintze, pastor, and Judy Farley and Erin Kotzur officiating. Interment was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
