Funeral services for Lila Alexander Wint will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at El Reno First Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Lila, a longtime resident of El Reno, passed away May 7, 2019. She was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Shawnee. Lila and George Wint moved to El Reno in 1952 when George became superintendent of the State Game Farm. Lila had the gifts of hospitality and encouragement in every way, and is known by many people for her notes, phone calls and letters, all hand-written which many people still talk about years afterward.
Her love of music was nourished early in life by her mother who was a wonderful piano teacher. Lila maintained that love all her life and had many friends within the El Reno Music Club. A lifelong Christ follower, she taught Sunday school for 43 years at First Baptist Church.
Lila worked for many years with the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Concho, administering leases for oil and gas properties and developed deep friendships there.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, George, who was her exact opposite in many ways but they were made to be together. Also preceding her was her brother, David K. Alexander, and her parents, George E. Alexander and Zora Jones Alexander.
Lila is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Debra Wint of Flower Mound, Texas, and son, Kip Wint of El Reno. Also surviving are her granddaughters, Erika Babb, Audra Wint, Kelsey Brown, Kati Wint Jones and Kayla Wint, along with great-grandchildren, Tristan and Asher Babb, Aubrey and Hayes Brown, Luna Rae and Bailey Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Lila will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
