A new city manager for El Reno is expected to come from among the 28 applications that were submitted for the position.

City Attorney Roger Rinehart handed out information about the applicants to the city council near the conclusion of last week’s regular meeting. Rinehart said the information is confidential and should not be discussed.

Council was also given a spreadsheet that breaks down the experience and background of each of the applicants.

Mayor and Acting City Manager Matt White said the position was advertised as seeking someone with experience in municipal government.

He said the lack of such experience may not rule someone out, but that needed to be taken into consideration.

Council is expected to select top applicants and interviews will be scheduled. White, who has served as acting city manager since May, said he hoped to have someone hired by the end of the year.
