Tracey Abner-Rider will keep her seat as Ward 4 council representative after being the only person to file for the position, said Wanda Armold, secretary of the Canadian County Election Board.

The El Reno mayor’s race is another story.

Four people filed to run for the three-year term, including incumbent Mayor Matt White, Steve Jensen, Rita Thompson and Kevan Copelin.

White, 47, is seeking his fifth term as mayor. He lists his address as 1815 S. Choctaw.

White points to his record of service to the community, especially his efforts following the deadly May 25 tornado.

Jensen, 52, served for 20 years on the El Reno School Board. He lists his address as 707 S. Hoff. Jensen said he feels God is calling him to serve as mayor of El Reno.

Thompson, 62, lists her address as 600 Pristine Place. Attempts to reach her were not successful.

Copelin, 62, lists his address as 1208 S. Barker Ave. He said he has deep roots in El Reno and strong ties to education. Copelin lists a variety of business experiences.

The race is non-partisan and will be decided Nov. 12, with the top vote-getter winning the position.

Rider, 57, lists 1404 Shuttee as her address. Rider will serve a four-year term on the council.
