El Reno Storm Shelters

The storm shelters at El Reno Public Schools sites will be open to the public when a tornado watch is issued, said Superintendent Craig McVay.

Pets should be left at home, but McVay said no one is ever turned away.

McVay pushed for the shelters to be installed after the May 30, 2013, tornado that struck the area. It is believed El Reno may have been the first school district in the nation to have storm shelters at each school site.
