Etta Dale, ER youth grapplers join forces

Etta Dale Junior High's wrestling team recently took part in the 2009 Tuttle Kids Open Tournament alongside the younger kids of the El Reno Little League wrestling program.
In Division IV action, Blake Dauphin took fourth place at 84 pounds, while Gabe Porter was fourth at 88 points and Denim Burke fourth at 110 pounds. In the same weight class, Kalani Gradle took the silver medal.
In Division V it was Conner Howard winning the gold at 152 pounds and Christian Bryant first at heavyweight. Wiley Hockutt (102) and Darin Moss (110) took silver medals and Junior Pina was third at 142 pounds.
Etta Dale was coming off a 12th-place finish out of 22 teams at the recent Perry Invitational, scoring 91.5 points and placing three grapplers in the medals. The Indians were five points back of Stillwater for 11th place.
Dauphin rolled to the gold at 78 pounds, scoring 43 points against opponents and giving up only one point. He logged two first-period falls and had a 14-1 major decision in the semifinals.
Dauphin defeated Garrett Guthrie of Stillwater in the finals with a 15-0 technical fall. He went on to be named Outstanding Wrestler.
Jon Grube gave up only one takedown and two points off a reversal en route to the gold at 86 pounds. Trey Smillie took fourth at 94 pounds.
Frankie Cometsevah posted a 3-2 record at 134 pounds, with his losses coming to second-place finisher Zac West of Blackwell and the fifth-place finisher from Claremore.
Dylan Hight picked up a win at 185 pounds, while Hockutt (102), Moss (110), Pina (142) and Bryant (285) wrestled strong.
