REDLANDS WOMEN SWEEP CLASSIC
BY GLEN MILLER
Edition:Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Redlands Community College's women's basketball program returned home from a season-opening road loss to pick up a pair of wins at the 2009 Cougars Classic.
“It's always good to get your first two home games under your belt,” Redlands head coach Jay Niehues said.
Redlands opened the classic with a 68-46 win over Mid-America Christian University, pulling away from the Evangels in the second half with a 35-18 run. The Cougars led 33-28 at halftime.
“We did not shoot the ball well in the first half,” Niehues said. “The second half we started to hit some shots. We just played better in the second half and got after them on both ends of the floor.”
Calumet native Hannah Weldon knocked down a trio of 3-pointers to highlight her team-high 15 points. Dianna Glass had four treys en route to her 14 points, while Tabitha Bailey had 12 points.
Yountia Robinson and Shalay Stancle led those in single digits with six points each, while Raven Mosley added five. Alex Foster and Kyesha Hall had four points apiece and Shelby Cox added two.
Robinson collected 10 rebounds to pace RCC, while Foster had nine and Glass had seven. Foster had five steals in the win, followed by Hall and Robinson with three each.
Redlands closed the classic with an 87-43 humbling of Bacone College. The Cougars led by 30 points at the half, 49-19, before closing out the blowout with a 38-24 run in the second half.
Weldon netted five treys to highlight her 19 points, while Foster and Robinson added 12 points each. Glass had a dozen points, sparked by two treys, in addition to the 10 points from Bailey.
Eight other players scored in the rout, with Hall and Lindsey Roberts scoring four each, followed by three apiece from Tiffany Williams and Stancle. Cox, Mosley, Sam Stout and Karishia Walder had two points each.
Foster had a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Bailey cornered seven and Mosley added six. Bailey had 10 assists for her double-double, while Stancle had five.
