CALUMET GIRLS ROLL PAST WASHITA HEIGHTS
BY GARRETT EATON
Edition:Sunday, November 22, 2009

The third-ranked Calumet High School girls basketball team hit the road toward Corn to take on Washita Heights last week and made the trip worthwhile with a 87-24 win.
The Chieftains would get off to a scorching start, leading 34-2 after the first quarter. Calumet slowed down a little in the second quarter, with a 15-point effort, four of those on one shot. Emily Eaton was fouled on a made 3-pointer and hit the bonus free throw.
Calumet took a 49-10 lead into the half and led 64-17 leaving the third.
Eaton finished the game with 25 points and six rebounds, while Katelyn Richardson added 14 points and six assists. Morgan Renbarger had a double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds - 10 of those on the offensive end.
Mariah Miles also added 13 points and 10 caroms, while Micah Snyder had nine points to go along with six steals. Christina Wolfchief had seven points, while Megan Snyder added four.
Pebbles Island chipped in with two points.
“Emily is having some big scoring games, and Morgan had a great rebounding game like I know she is capable of. Mariah did a great job of making outlet passes, and Katelyn is running the court well and getting ahead on fastbreaks. We didn't shoot the ball that well, but we got to work on our zone,” said coach Tyler Snowden.
