Edition:Sunday, May 09, 2010

Redlands Community College's baseball team took three out of four games from Murray State College last week during Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
The Cougars swept the home series over the Aggies by scores of 14-4 and 8-6, but split the doubleheader in Tishomingo. The Cougars won the first road game 14-2, but lost 7-5 in the second.
Though Redlands hit well overall in both twinbills, the Cougars were a disappointing 8-of-29 (.275) in the lone loss to Murray State. For the four-game series, Redlands was 42-of-106 from the plate for a .396 average, which included a 21-of-49 (.429) effort in the home games.
In the first game at home, Redlands posted a 3-for-3 effort with a pair of doubles from Tyler Lee. Petr Zyma tripled for one of his two base hits and drove in three runs. Matt Burton and Heath Wilda each had a double as well as two hits, while Tom Ward added a two-run homer.
Jared Wright and Nathan Lucas added a hit each and Brett Tilley added two to the 14-hit attack.
London Davis scattered two runs, two hits and a walk over three innings for the win. Dan Edwards allowed two runs in an inning and a third of relief, while Tomas Duffek allowed a hit.
Redlands had seven hits in game two of the home series as Burton tripled and Ward slapped a solo home run. Wilda was 2-for-4 from the plate with a pair of homers and four RBIs. Ryan Meek was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
Aaron Luchterhand threw six innings, allowing two runs off six hits and a pair of walks while fanning six batters. Randon Ridling and Doug Carel combined for one inning of work.
Redlands had 13 hits in the road win as Zyma was a single short of hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and eight driven in. Burton and Barnes joined Zyma in the home run derby, while Ward and Lee doubled and Nick Rountree hit a pair of doubles to highlight his 3-for-4 effort.
Chad Woods threw five innings for the win, striking out two and allowing three hits.
In the two-run loss, Burton and Wright had a triple each and Justin Barnes was 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Aaron Henage took the loss on the hill.
